After 87 days BP has apparently placed a cap on the oil well in the Gulf. As you will recall BP, Transocean and Haliburton (remember them?, Dick Cheney's old company) caused the largest environmental disaster in US history. Yes, we all recall seeing the C.E.O. of B.P., Tony Hayward whining in front of the cameras that he wanted his life back. Well, so do the fisherman, and others who rely on the gulf for their living not to mention the dolphins, turtles, pelicans and sealife from the basic beginning of the food chain.
But you see this all came about as a result of de-regulation started under Ronald Regan. De-regulation makes it easier for companies to operate without a lot of pesky rules especially those meant for the health and safety of others.
As we see these corporations run roughshod over us, your blood should boil.
America as I see it is a country which doesn't manufacture anything. We shuffle papers. We allow corporations to screw us over. We allow people to lose their jobs to China, India , S. Korea and elsewhere. We have individuals who went from making 50,000 a year to making $10 an hour. Go ahead try making your mortgage payments, or a car payment or a credit card paymnet. Notice I didn't mention food in the last sentence. What does this have to do with BP you ask?
Simply this, as long as we are going to bend over for these major corporations we, the people will be screwed. There will be another corporate disaster! Just wait and see. And when the truth is revealed we will see that once again, corners were cut, inspectors looked the other way, because they were bribed in some manner. And we the people are shafted once again.
I guess our politicians think they will take the last flights out of the country before it turns into total chaos? I say head them off before they get to the Airports!

Last night I was watching the Graham Norton program that followed Dr Who on BBC America. Two of his guests were Anna Kornikova and Katy Perry. MY God, it was wall to wall tits and ass.
