This evening is bound to be a *hoot* the funk kicks off about 7.30pm, and it is straight out to the restaurant for dinner and drinks to start the night off with :)
Tomorrow I am entertaining at home, and makng saddle of Lamb :)
I was watching the celebrations in Sydney, Austrailia.. that was such a fabulous firework show!

A reflection.

On the most part 2008 for me on the family front was sad what with the death of two close family members in early summer. No-one ever anticipated their deaths, as one day they were healthy and poof they were lifted from the face of this earth the next.
I can't think of anything overly good that happened this year, but the highlights of 2008 were focused on the business angle of our lifes that really went well.
Best holiday ever was with Dom on Halloween at a Most Haunted venue in Ireland.. it is one I shall not forget for a life time! :)

I would like to thank those from here that took a little time to wish me a Happy Christmas, that was very considerate :) Mines went well :) There was so much on over Christmas and Boxing Day it left little time for online activities, hence my absence for the past few days. That is a good thing as it shows I got my family priorities right for a change! Everyone had a lovely time..pressies were super and in some cases overly generous, but I am not complaining about that!
My favourite was the emerald necklace my husband brought me ..I will take a photo of that later and put it in my journal. :)

I meant to write this some time ago..but if it happened to me, believe me it can happen to you also and as witnessed already in some cases.
On another note my first day of work has been great! I even got to cook dinner! My brother is home from Spain and all is looking good for super Christmas! Social life starts tomorrow with a family lunch.. I swear I'll be as fat as the Christmas turkey this year chuckles... thats why we have gym in the New Year I guess ;)

Just two more days to go! Auditing tomorrow and teaching on Thursday and then I am off work for an entire two weeks!!! Yay. Man! I am dying to get my feet up and having a good rest.. Imagine, just image I will be able to be a home-bird, cooking, cleaning, decorating, shopping again..that sounds like heaven as my imagination and muse is running on ground zero at the moment with all this bloody work! Imagine, I will actually get to use the gym I paid membership for in a short while :) :) *insert double yay here* heh
Good news, the guys finished putting the beams up for me to-day, and I'm sitting down with Adele to work through the interiors on Monday :) The painter is coming tomorrow sometime, but in the meantime .... Roll on Friday!

Deadly Tired now..

It is nearly Christmas, and so far I have not had any time to get things organised. Why.. why, why.. do people want things done immediately, and why, why, why am I obliging them! Tomorrow morning 6am up and 7pm finish, Saturday much the same.. two days of teaching back to back.
On the brighter side of life, I have decided to put some old style but modern style (if that makes sense) wooden beams on the ceiling of my living room were I have the log fire, and in the kitchen so they match my old fashioned dresser. I'm not big on the colonial theme, but this may tune in well with the more modern pitch of the beams and surrounding decor :)
Yup, it was not too difficult to get a good Joiner what with the recession and all the pay-offs, so at least we gave one family a Happy Christmas after all :)

Sometime I get tired of people taking advantage of my good nature. Trying to please others all of the time is starting to take it's toll that I feel it really is time to change that. Besides some people don't really appreciate what has been done for them, so why should I bother any more. Amen.

I am wondering what gives people an authority to criticize and ridicule a membership they may be in if they do not participate themselves. Why should a person have expectations that everything should be up to their expectations? And why should someone even think they know better than the Group Admins themselves? Why should someone ridicule and say something is useless if that same person hasn’t dipped their own feet in the water? You know what?... I am glad you are gone; I expected better behaviour from a representative of the Dark Network. Please do not come back.
I am proud of our Group Star of the North. There will be no drama and a lot of people have worked very hard on the Sci-Fi Site, including me and a couple of others on the Announcements and Events. I did not see your participation there either, but noted your complaints as ignorant towards a Community you are meant to be supporting. I really think the Dark Network would do a lot better with less of you in the world.

Star of the North Group

We are taking a vote on making our Group public or private, & so far the majority of members wish the Group, "Star of the North" to remain Private for the time being. I am happy to go either way, Public or Private but we have established a sense of community already, so we will listen to the collective voice of Star of the North Group.
I think it is important to remember that Sci-Fi is not similiar to Vampire Rave. Here there are no forced inductions, and we do not bond people to the gateposts.
