Well, thats a first..my mouse is covered in flour! Being somewhat grounded today after spending yesterday ill in bed I availed of the time to do some home baking!
So far, I have two batches of chocolate cookie mix chilling in the fridge and I have a batch of blueberry tea-scones baking in the oven as I type :)
I love just having some time to do all the girly things.. it makes me happy and umm *fluffy* hehe.
Dom is down in the cafes.. he is going to get a lovely surprise when he gets home as our house will be wafting of the smells of home baking. He loves that!

I have an idea what to do with all the illegal immigrants coming into Arizona.. Why not let them build a city in the middle of the desert there, surround it with a wall and security and also send all the criminals there! Keep them all in the same place.. Who on earth would want to live in a desert anyway! So it's a good place for them! I hear the forest area of Az is very nice, so let's be sure to keep them out of there! Yay oh Obama!

Reading about Nightgame's new car in her journal got me round to thinking about my own Dodge jeep and how maybe it is time to trade it in. I bought it three years ago and I adore it, but for the past while I wondered about the crunching noise when I turned the steering wheel hard left or right and the big squeaks going over bad bumps in the road.
When passing by the dealership today i decided to call in with them as my warranty is up on the vehicle on the 6th of August. I am glad I did because they found fault in the front wheel suspension and the "wishbone" ( whatever that is...and I don't think it is chicken) is cracked. Altogether the parts will cost about £600! Never mind then labour! So, just calling in there on a haunch saved me a small fortune! Is it my lucky day or what! I really believe in karma. X

So Cyprus was hot! I woke up to 36c temperatures and it steadily climbed up to the mid 40,s as the day progressed. Wow! I melted.. No weather for a pale skinned white woman! Cyprus was also beautiful and my friend and I went on a boat trip twice which was fantastic just to chill and lay in the sun. The. Trip ventured up to the border where the United nations are stationed in no mans land between the Cypriot and Turkish borders. One could see the ghost town of Nicosia from that location apparently left the same way when the Cypriots fled to the southern regions. It was eerie.
Well I forgot my digital camera but I bought one of those box cameras heh, it will be odd to see hard copies of photos again once they are developed!
We had a super time and for the first time ever I sang in the karaoke haha that was a lark! Anyway it was a good and very welcomed break. I slept the entire five hour flight on the way home. Another first!

I really believe the way forward in convenience and ease of use is having a tablet such as IPad. I do not think that I could go back to laptop use after the ease of using the tablet. Only drawback that I can see is in not being able to use flash or in opening more than one web browser at a time, but then that is maybe not a disadvantage, depends which way you prefer to a use your browser.
It is a bit pricey but that is compensated by the convenience and mobility of product. I am thinking of buying another one for hubby but now with Microsoft launching their own similar product I will wait until then so I can have adobe features.

just some news to share ..the IPad works great as a reader and multifunctional tool, even with this website it's compatible and thankfully ad free. I like! The keyboard is just the bees knees as there is plenty of space between the keys and is easy to read. That scores brownie points for me!
Ease of movement is so fluid and predictable text is wonderful for journal entries!

I'm sooo excited! 21:15:35 - Jul 16 2010 Times Read: 396
The I-Pad arrived two hours ago... hubby is working on it now installing and setting it up :) !! I am so excited about it but it arrived just the day before I leave!! I haven't had a chance to work on it yet but it is smaller than I thought it was and weighs more than I thought. The i-Pad charger is not compatible with an I-phone charger! It really is going to be a handy tool. :)

As an experiment, I wanted to see how long it would take to raise the status level... so I gained 0.05% in 20 minutes by sand-blasting the sandpit with rubbish! *sighs* how things have changed. and, and... I couldn't believe it I recently found someone with 11,000+ posts !!!!LMAO... God help the people who read all of them as they must be blinded with sand!

You make me want to recoil and vomit in repulsion. You are such a dirty old woman. Your hair looks like you fell into a chip fryer and your photos reveal the repugnant filth you live in. I am convinced you have scabies and smell like a slimy old trout. *gag*

I couldn't comment in Cancer's journal since I am so exceptionally exempt from doing so, but I realized I don't have to comment there... because I can do so here in my own journal..
I think that if it were to snow in Phoenix, Arizona during winter it would be as exceptional as the recent heat-wave in Europe and residents in Phoenix would be complaining just as much as their counterparts have done in Europe. Now.. the probability of that happening in Phoenix is unlikely to happen as a serious heat-wave in Europe. But there you are... it happened.
I concur, that the oil-spill could of been handled a lot better and it is obvious that assessment of risk, fault tree analysis had not appeared to be considered in depth in the case of catastrophic failures such as explosion as the risk would of be mitigated, and controls put into place to help prevent what happened. With analysis surely it would of been considered and particularly so in such deep water.

Making best use of the holiday to relax! I had my niece over for chilli and wholegrain rice earlier, and now I get to sort out which clothes I am taking to Cyprus with me on Saturday. When I was in Europe recently the weather was 40C which for an eskimo like me is exceptional! (mind you I will be sure to adequately prepare for it.. enough said lol..big floppy hats and water pistols for Mary and me!)
I bought one of those little cabin bags from Skyflight with wheels.. in a bright pink colour lmao, it is not bound to get lost now . Hmm, I think the suitcase will be spotted before me!
Later tonight I am hoping to get off to the cinema with hubby for a showing of , "Predator" Neill has recommended it.. so it must be good!
Anyway, toodily pips, later..later..later! :)

The WORLD cup belongs to SPAIN! :) :) 23:01:30 - Jul 11 2010 Times Read: 613
After several near nail biting misses, Spain wins the world cup!!! I thought it was never going to happen because the ball missed that many times! Geez, the dutch were a bit miserable on pitch.. tripping up the Spanish players! Yea. should of given out more red cards Ref! lol but the Spanish still won regardless. That is tenacity!
Sala's (nephew) pub in Spain is packed tonight and they are in process of a street party!! My brother and sis-in-law are in there too.. chuckles, the craic n' banter sounded good when I called them! wish I was there too!!

Ignorance and Arrogance.. 11:49:31 - Jul 11 2010 Times Read: 639
It is a human frailty that some people see and hear only what they want to. This is an age old concept that leads to misunderstandings, misinterpretation of situations, people motives and thoughts. Maybe, it is something you learn as you mature to think things through before acting or saying something unless of course you are arrogant, egoistical and seriously believe it is your way or the highway and you are ultimately right in all situations.
I am fortunate the years stood me well, and this is more or less an in-built value of mines. My job also demands that I run things through in my mind prior to opening my mouth and sounding totally stupid. It is unfortunate that I can't say the same thing about you.

It has been a rough couple of weeks in terms of my health.. I pulled a muscle on my back and so I was walking like Captain Sinbad's hook. I had physio a few times, and it appeared to work wonders! I actually got back to the gym yesterday and worked up a sweat with a jog on the treadmill. Still can't do the hills as it pulls on the group of muscles I injured.

*toot* *too* the six year membership mark with Vampire Rave is on the profile! I must be enjoying the site considering I have hung around so long. I wonder how much l more of this can I take? Things have changed a lot as it seems to be all about getting on as many lists as possible in a race to get to the top among the majority of members.
I don't think that aspect of the site has helped VR, but still.. the members come!

Of to the Tower, and screw his head around, until ye hear him SCREAM!! 21:43:58 - Jul 06 2010 Times Read: 778
At the Tower of London, there are electronic polls where you vote on whether torture is acceptable, and whether imprisonment without trial is acceptable. The votes, in the hundreds of thousands, show the yes vote winning.. tee-hee! ooh I find that amusing.. am I weird??

Vaginal Security System! 19:53:24 - Jul 04 2010 Times Read: 850
Borrowed from Schedule 1's journal... I found this a perfect recipe for such evil bastards! (pardon my French)
First, security systems were designed to protect your family and home.
Then they were developed for your vehicle.
What was missing?
A vaginal security system.
Fret no more, the future of vaginal protection is here!
Introducing Rape-aXe
The anti-rape condom was developed by Dr. Sonnet Ehlers for use by women in South Africa, where the rape rate is 16%. Designed to level the "playing field" so-to-speak, against would-be-rapists, Rape-axe is inserted like a tampon. Once embedded in a man's penis, it can only be removed safely by a doctor.
"It's time to fight back," Ehlers announces on her web site.
How does it work ?
The Rape-aXe system consists of a latex sheath, which contains razor-sharp barbs. The device is worn in her vagina like a tampon. When the attacker attempts vaginal penetration the barbs attach themselves to the penis, causing great discomfort. The device must be surgically removed, which will result in the positive identification of the attacker and subsequent arrest
