But I have no New Year's resolutions. I never have. Really, November 12th is as good of a day to make a change as is January 1st.
It's more a matter of planning. To set a goal, define a path and set out to achieve it.
As I mentioned to the gorgeous woman who sits across the desk from me... the last 7 years of my life have been nothing but a series of calculated risks and I've embarked on taking the next big risk today.
As I pondered that, I realize it has been more like 10 years...
...no... 15.
Wait... maybe 21.

Who really knows when it started? Perhaps it starts for all of us the day we decide to stop being children and start taking control of our lives as adults.
I don't know exactly what 2010 will have in store for me. I only know what I have in store for it.
Tomorrow is the last day of 2009. The last day of a difficult year in a challenging decade.
But I'm going to approach it like a diving platform and jump into the water. I'll try a few of those twists and turns along the way... except my goal is to make the biggest splash possible.

...we should play a game.
The basis will be creating a list of items that can be found in the back-ground of members' webcam stills and cell-phone photo avatars...
...it will kind of be like a scavanger hunt - you will be given a riddle to help you decipher which member to look for and then have to screen cap the member's avatar on their profile, using a simply graphics editor to circle or otherwise highlight the item you're supposed to be searching for.

The chili, BTW, turned out fantastic.
Spicy without being that "burn a hole in your tongue for the next 24 hours" kind of spicy.

Weather woes...

...I see all these horror stories about the recent weather... the winter storm that is blasting through the mid-west and heading to the north east.
The panic always amazes me. It's not like winter storms just happen... you kind of see them coming for a couple days. We've been hearing about this horrible weather we're going to have here since Monday.
It's not here yet. Looking at the 2100-mile radar, it looks like it is cycling around Lake Michigan and slowly swinging up from the south into this area. Right now it's near 50F here and raining with some severe thunderstorms just coming across Lake Erie.
No snow here. Really haven't had much at all this year... just a few inches a couple days ago and it melted fast.
But, the insanity is starting. Same thing that always happens.
Storm is on the way.
Oh, driving will be horrible. Plan on staying in.
Storm hits.
Removal crews clear the streets quickly.
Life goes on.
In a week, it will all melt.
And then we'll have the next storm for everyone to panic over...
*yawn*
