Isn't getting a hold of themselves in public part of the problem?
FEMA for the rest of us? 17:32:45 - Apr 22 2009 Times Read: 372
In my latest tax notification the IRS sent a little memo stating that if I've suffered from some disaster and am having trouble paying my taxes I can file for disaster relief....
...does having to deal with the IRS in the first place count as suffering from a disaster?
hahahaha! You know in a weird way I like reading you talk about your taxes. It gets me to thinking of strategies (sp?) meh, about how to keep better track or how better to hide etc.
Whoa...I saw 'IRS' here and it caught my eye...I hate this particular gov't entity with a passion right now. So, to answer your question, YEs in having to deal with them in the first place!
Never trust the government... 22:50:34 - Apr 12 2009 Times Read: 444
....apparently I made a mistake on a withholding tax two years ago... the IRS believes I owe them a penalty and interest from this and they'll be damned if they're not going to collect. They even sent an agent to knock on the door of my house last week with the apparent intent of collecting this debt...
...the amount they claim I owe...
$167
Yes. $167.
Now mind you I'm not deliberately keeping this from them... honestly with the amount of miscalculations, misapplications and general trouble they seem to have with each and every 941 payment I make to them, following their instructions to the letter... and the resulting flow of paperwork from each issue they have, I think I probably just missed this one.
But from a logical point of view... how much did it cost them to send an agent out to the wrong address to attempt to collect this? How much does it cost every time they mishandle the payments I do make? Taxes are taxes, no? Our taxes pay for the government services and personnel to handle (or mishandle) all of this...
...not to mention how much it costs me every time I have to take the time to research and respond to their mistakes...
...and here they are giving away $700 Billion of our tax dollars to larger companies so they can... fix the issues they themselves were the sole cause of. Stay afloat and keep their executives comfortable in private jets with million-dollar bonuses... while they make a small business sweat over $167.
Fucking ridiculous.
The "revenue officer" that came knocking on my door wants either a phone or face-to-face meeting on Wednesday. I think I'll go prepared to pay the debt, in full....
....I wonder how heavy $167 in pennies is... I better bring a 2-wheel lift...
You might ask for an extension because you have not got your refund check yet...lol. Say it is part of an internal economic stimulus deal you have with congress and is earmarked for something like half a PS3 which in turn further stimulates the economy by purchasing product...heh. Yay for bloated gov...
Be happy...they say I owe $500 for an error done on my 2006 taxes...as I'm unemployed right now, I guess they think that I can squeeze money from a rock...
