Background story of Sharkaylador Baerne 18:45:53 - Jun 17 2012 Times Read: 64
I was born in the town of Skullport and taught in the ways of magic in both cleric and wizard by my mother Lireal. As I grew older I was not happy in the town of Skullport, I had to get away and find myself. There was so much more to learn and find, I wanted to travel just like my mother and father did as I heard all the stories they had told me while growing up.
During my travels I too was hunted by my race, not because of being the child of Lireal had anything to do with it, but because the Baerne family learned about me and wanted me to return to Menzzoberanzan. They wanted to use me to gain more power in their house, not to mention what they could learn from me. The Baerne family finally found me one day and returned me back to my proper place. I was not punished, which surprised me, for I thought I'd be sacrificed to Lloth for my mother leaving Menezzoberanzan for the surface world. Instead, I was sent to Arach'Tinilth, the priestess school. I however protested that I didn't need to go, but it was insisted that I go as per order of my cousin Triel. They did not know what mother had taught and had to be sure.
I spent maybe 10 years in Arach'Tinilth and placed in the top 5 ranking in my class. The priestesses ruled I had no need of being in there, for my training had exceeded anyone that had been taught there before. Triel smiled on this thought, she now had a daughter of Lloth worthy of being in house Baerne. She called for me one day and told me of her plans. Quinthel was getting into her prime and she had need of new blood to take Quinthel's place. I wanted nothing to do with her plans or of Lloth's. I did not belong here. I ran off, back to the surface. As soon as Matron Baerne learned of my disappearance she was furious and sent soldiers which were close on my heels.
In my travels and running from my race, I came to a tavern named Glenshadows. On the sign it read, “All races may pass here, none will be turned away" Curious I went inside to see who and what dwelled inside. To my astonishment, there were dwarves, elves, and humans inside collaborating with each other. There was finally a place where I could go and be accepted. There were other drow within the tavern as I noted and decided to take a seat near them. There was one drow woman which sat in the back, watching my every move. I guess she was wondering the same thing as me is she friend or is she foe? I returned every evening getting a feel for the environment and ordered a fey wyne. Then one evening while I was there, the tavern door shattered and a drow raiding party barged in. They recognized me immediately and the leader pointed at me. The party began running for me and I withdrew my two long swords ready for them.
They were all on me at once, but no one stepped in to help, only watched. I turned, dodged and parried, every move I made could have been my last, but I held my own and one by one they fell. Breathing hard I looked to the door of the tavern to see the drow leader still standing there. I pointed one of my swords at him and said in the drow tongue, Tesso dosst ilharess usstan orn naut alu rath pi'resco "Tell your matron I will not go back easily." the leader gave me a look of disgust and spat on the floor then said, "xal l'orbb valsharess xsa dos ulu l'rendan, "May the spider queen damn you to the abyss.", turned and walked away.
There was one watching in the back of the tavern, the same woman who had been watching me. She approached me and introduced herself as M'Regean. She was a matron of her own house called Daernien'masaern. She had asked me if I had had a home to call my own. I told her I didn't. She then invited me to become part of her house and a new adopted daughter and was ranked as one of the guardians of the house and to her. Her house being the 20th in rank, there were those houses below us that wished to rise to our ranks, and there were constant raids upon the house. House Daernien'masaern was a newly created house Do'Urden, Matron M'Regean's mate was a member of the fallen house of Do'Urden, named Dri'cail Do'Urden. He vowed to create a home that would house any drow outcast.
I had found a mate in the place I called home, a 6th cousin to the famed Drizzt, of a different house. His name was Val'shren. He and I had the perfect relationship. We both trained side by side trying to outdo the other. It was always an even match. Then one day House Baerne found out what house Daernien'masaern was doing and that she has being harbored within it, led a raiding party and attacked. Both I and Val'shren fought until finally I had seen Val'sharen run through by the blade of my sister Treymont. He fell to the ground and saw me for the last time and signed, " Together we will be one day my love."
Furious, I ran towards my sister Treymont, but before I could get to her, one of the walls of the house had collapsed and fell on top of me. Trapped I was in the rubble; I thought it would be my last day to live. The raiding party looked for any survivors, and looked for me. Satisfied that I was probably dead, they left. I quickly tried to unbury myself from the rubble. I looked around for any survivors. Not a trace of M'Reagen anywhere. I had hoped she escaped from the clutches of the Baerne soldiers. I did a blessing to Ellistrae for those that were lost in the battle, and looked for Val'Shren's body. I found it, and took from his neck the necklace he always wore. I then buried him with the rubble of the fallen house and wandered the underdark, hoping to find a place of safety and perhaps to start my life again.

Story of Selene Qualtrenos 18:44:23 - Jun 17 2012 Times Read: 65
In 1521 Hernando Cortés, a Spanish Conquistador came to the lands of the Aztecs and defeated the Aztecs. Selene had managed to escape, but her followers were unable to flee as the spanyards killed them all. Selene later found out that their enemies payed Cortes and gave him Indian allies to assist in the attack. Selene stayed in the rainforests until Cortes left.
Selene remerged and found out that someone by the name of Pedro de Alvarado was in charge. She bedded the man whispering things in his ear of great fourtune if he were to massacre some of the cheifs of the city. Alvarado did so and the people retailiated, driving the spaniards out of the city. Selene was pleased, but it was only short lived, for Cortes found out about what Alvarado did. He gathered a huge army and marched upon Selene's city on 13th August 1521. The Aztec empire finally fell and with it Selene's hope.
Selene's home was built over and was now named Mexico City. Cortes was named Governor. Selene decided to wed Cortes in order to influence him. She did a fine job in doing so persueding the Conquisador to travel on an expedition to Honduras. During this time when he did so, she stayed behind and managed to further influence officials in charge to confiscate his property.
Eventually Cortes left to return to spain to make himself favorable to King Charles V and later returned a Marques del Valle. Selene disappointed that her plans had failed fled to Northern Mexico. She hid in the mountains and started a group which later became the "Chichimecan tribes" which resisted against the spaniards, later in which she converted them with her bite. Gonzalo de las Casas wrote that they did not use clothes (only to cover their genitalia), painted their bodies and ate only game, roots and berries.
In 1529, Nuño de Guzmán with a force of 10,500 men, set forth on a march to La Gran Chichimeca, Selene's new home. During his campaign he killed, tortured, and enslaved thousands of the natives. Selene recieved word about this and thus rebelled to free her people in the the Spring of 1540, this later lead to the "Chichimeca War". This conflict lasted until the turn of the century and was eventully solved by "peace and purchase", by the spaniards.
There was peace for now and the Chichimecan tribe divided on to other various tribes. Selene then created the Otomi and started a religion devoted to the moon, her people lived in settled communities and lived off the land, eventually creating the city of Tula. Selene continued to fight the spaniards enslavement of the indians.
Soon Selene met up with a missonary by the name of Father Eusebio Francisco Kino who was an explorer and came through Selene's territory of Northern Mexico in 1687. He was not a spaniard but an italian that was sent from spain to set up missionaries.
Selene fell in love with father Eusebio even tho she did not agree with his religious beliefs, she still adored him for his fighting against the forced labor of Indians in northern Mexican silver mines and also taught them better farming methods. She accompanied him on his missions through northern mexico and into the baja pinisula and into what is known as Arizona today.
Selene learned mathimatics and astronomy from Kino. She had a breif idea about astronomy with astrology but learned even more. Kino died in 1711 and Selene upset, traveled into Azizona territory and settled there naming it Arizuma an Aztec word for "silver bearing" and settled in with the local Apache indians there. In 1750 the first spanish fort was built, named Tubac Presidio.
Years passed and Selene watched the Azizona territory grow with colonists coming in search of wealth. Selene later returned to Mexico to the village of Dolores. It was here she met up with Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a catholic preist which she found out was against the spaniards much like Kino was. Selene took this opportunity to implant ideas of independence from the spaniards in Hidalgo's mind.
On September 16, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla ordered the arrest of Dolores’ native Spaniards. Then Hidalgo rang the church bell as he customarily did to call the indians to mass. The message that Hidalgo gave to the indians and mestizos called them to retaliate against the hated Spaniards who had exploited and oppressed Mexicans for ten generations. He urged the exploited and embittered Mexicans to recover the lands that was stolen from their forefathers.
Hidalgo's speech managed to tap into powerful forces that had been simmering for over three hundred years. With clubs, slings, axes, knives, machetes and intense hatred, the Indians took on the challenge of the Spanish artillery. Selene was impressed and joined in the revolt, for she had been awaiting such a time to come. Much to her knowledge some of her followers from years ago were here thus the "Chichimecan's" were together fighting again for their native country, which would not be the last time they would fight together. Guerrero, Selene's right hand man was in command of the mexican army and later with Selene's influence became the first president of Mexico after the war in 1821.
After the War Selene returned north to what was now called Texas and in 1835 Texas declaired itself independant from Mexico which sparked a war between Mexico and America. Selene didn't know which side to take, so she portrayed a spy for both sides. General Santa Anna lead an army into America and a battle ensued at the Alamo. Selene manages to flee and was rumored that she assisted Sam Houston with the battle at San Jacinto, it was always wondered how Santa Anna fell for Sam Houston's ambush, but then again Selene for a price assisted with leading Santa Anna to Sam Houston's army.
March 1845 saw an annexing of Texas. War was brewing once more. Selene saw an increase of military forces in Texas and in April 1846 a battle ensued in the Rio Grande between Mexico and America. May 1846, America declaired war on Mexico. Selene decided to stay out of this one and moved west away from the conflict. In the newspapers Selene read that a settlement of 15 million dollars was paid to mexico for California, New mexico and the boarder of Texas by the Rio Grande.
In 1848 once again Selene found herself in a war torn area with the apache war. Selene called upon her people to assist in the fight. There was nothing she hated more than was watch people be oppressed. The apache tribes were being used by colonial settlers from the east for mining, and treated like slaves. Mangas Coloradas, one of the most influential Apache leaders, entered a mining camp to try to negotiate a peaceful coexistence in the land was physically whipped and humiliated by the miners. From that point on, his hatred boiled over into raids of would-be settlers and prospectors, both white and Mexican.
During full moon nights Selene and her group would go out and massacre troops. In the morning people would awake to see men torn to shreds. Many thought that coyotes or wolves were the culprit and feared the night. This caused a would be scare to kill any coyote or wolf seen. Little did they know it was Selene's group.
The civil war broke out in 1861 and troops had to be called to assist the confederate states. Arizona became a confederate state and Selene became a Vivandière (daughter of the regiment ).
When the civil war ended in 1865, Selene moved to Tombstone and later ran with Billy the Kid and his gang. She fell in love with Billy and reveiled to him her secret. Started he was at first and then he thought it was kinda kewl. It was set up to with Pat Garret to arrange that Billy was to be killed, But in all it was just a front to where Billy would be converted as well as his gang.
To this day they still are together, but intead of being outlaws, they now are hired under a unknown client to keep Cornando's clan and his drug dealings under control.
